Operating elements for technical plants in industry

Operating elements are a central component for safe handling and precise adjustment of manually operated fixtures and technical plants in industry. As important interfaces, operating elements enable efficient control, regulation and monitoring of machines, plants and production processes.

Retaining elements support the safe fixation and precise alignment of manually operated devices. High-quality retaining and operating elements are essential for precise and safe operation of machines, control units or systems.

In the norelem range you can find an extensive selection of different operating and retaining elements that will fulfil your requirements. Each product fulfils industrial standards and is designed for intuitive operation.

Application areas & sectors for operating elements and retaining elements

Operating and retaining elements are used in various industrial applications and areas. They are used wherever machines, plants or fixtures need to be safely operated, set up or established.

Typical application areas for operating and retaining elements include e.g:

  • Machine and plant construction
  • Tool and fixture construction
  • Automation technology
  • Assembly and testing equipment
  • Production, packaging and conveyor systems

The versatile designs of the operating elements in the norelem range are suitable for both standard applications and individual machine processes.

Why ergonomic operating elements are crucial in industry

Retaining and operating elements are used in e.g. machine construction, toolmaking and plant construction to ensure that machines and devices are safely controlled.

In these sectors, operating elements are crucial for reducing the workload and achieving user-friendly handling. Ergonomically designed operating elements are crucial for efficient and safe work processes. They enable intuitive operation and reduce physical strain during frequent or prolonged use.

Intuitive and ergonomically optimised operating elements minimise operating errors, shorten adjustment times and support safe, efficient workflows. Good ergonomics, as with the products in our range, make a significant contribution to increasing productivity and simultaneously increasing work safety.

The correct material selection for operating elements

The choice of the right material for operating elements has a decisive influence on functionality, service life and possible applications. Different materials are used depending on environmental, load and hygienic requirements. In our range, you can determine the material of both the main body and the individual components yourself and order them to suit your application.

An excerpt from the materials used for our operating and retaining elements can be seen here:

  • Aluminium
  • Free-cutting steel
  • Thermoset
  • Stainless steel
  • Plastics
  • Polyamide
  • POM
  • Steel
  • Thermoplastic
  • QT steel

The different types of operating and retaining elements

The 06000 product group from norelem is divided into 15 categories:

Knurled nuts, knurled screws, knurled knobs

Elements in this category are characterised by a serrated edge that creates a non-slip surface. This property permits knurled nuts, knurled screws and knurled knobs to be tightened or loosened tool-free.

The serrations ensure safe fitting and removal as they provide a firm grip and prevent slipping, making them particularly suitable for manual adjustments.

Handling and grip elements

Grips, such as star grips or palm grips, enable fasteners, machines and components to be clamped, loosened or adjusted smoothly and tool-free. Comfortable handling enables quick grasping and safe operation even in confined spaces and structures.

Grip elements, such as knobs, ball knobs and spherical knobs are used as locking clamping and fastening elements and are used in particular for manual work with adjustable components. In our range you will find these with both internal and external threads, which can be selected to suit the application area.

These handling and grip elements are available in various types and materials to provide the ideal operating element for every design.

Handwheels and cranks

Handwheels and cranks transfer a rotary movement from the hand to a machine. They enable precise, controlled force transmission and are particularly suitable for applications with frequent or prolonged adjustments in machine and plant constructions.

This manual control enables easy adjustment and calibration of machine components and the control of valves. The high precision permits fine adjustment on spindles, axles and fixtures, i.e. wherever accuracy counts.

Different designs and grip types ensure safe, ergonomic operation and support efficient adjustments.

Clamping and clamping technology

A clamping or tensioning lever is a mechanical component that uses a lever mechanism to fixate, clamp or position workpieces quickly and tool-free by generating a clamping force. The grip is connected to the threaded insert via a toothed insert. This allows the lever to be lifted and freely rotated to a new position before it snaps back and re-engages.

Clamping joints complete the range of clamping and locking technology and enable precise alignment and secure fixation of components at variable angles. They are particularly used in machine, fixture and plant constructions where components need to be flexibly positioned and reliably clamped.

Handle systems and functional elements

Our range includes numerous types of grips as operating and retaining elements which are intended for different application sectors.

T-grips and wing grips enable simple manual operation and are often used for clamping, releasing or adjusting components.

Pull handles are particularly suitable for safe transport and for opening and closing hatches or doors. They offer a particularly stable and ergonomic shape.

Ledge handles have a comfortable gripping function, which is particularly in demand in workshops and industrial working environments.

Recessed handles and fold-down handles are ideal where space is limited, as they are flush mounted or can be folded out as required.

Tubular handles are characterised by a robust design and good handling and are often used on machines, housings or transport containers. Functional handles are characterised by their ergonomic design and special additional functions.
