What are ball catches?
Ball catches°are fastening elements used to secure doors and hatches. They consist of a housing and a ball head pin. When the door or hatch is closed, the latch bracket or ball pin engages in the housing, thereby helping to ensure a safe working environment.
Applications of ball catches for doors and hatches
Ball catches are used as mechanical catches for doors and hatches. They are particularly suited for quickly holding lightweight hinged and sliding doors closed. They are used both in machine and equipment construction to secure hatches, covers and doors, and in the interior fittings of vehicles.
Ball catches in the°norelem°range
Ball catches from°norelem°are available in various versions. The bodies of these standard parts are available in in both black and grey in the range and are made from fibreglass reinforced polyamide. The ball pins are available in the following materials
Steel (electro zinc-plated)
Stainless steel 1.4301 (bright)
In addition, a retaining force F1 N of 40 or 50 can be selected.
What are double ball catches?
A°double ball catch°works on a similar principle to a ball catch. However, unlike a single ball catch, the double ball catch has two balls positioned opposite each other. These balls are pressed inwards by springs inside the housing to to create a retaining function. When a door or hatch is pushed closed, the two balls are forced outwards by the tip of the latch bracket and then snap back into the recess on the latch bracket to secure°the component.
The latch bracket of the double ball catch can be pressed into the housing from both the side and the front. The latching force of the double ball catch is adjustable.

Abrasive blasted stainless steel 1.4401
In all body versions the balls and springs are made from bright stainless steel.
Ball catch or double ball catch – what is the difference?
The main difference between ball catches and double ball catches lies in°the°design and operating principle. A ball catch has one ball pin which engages in a corresponding housing when closing to secure a component in place. Whereas the double ball catch has two opposing balls inside the housing, which ensure a secure hold through spring action.
